(ANTIMEDIA) WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange recently used Twitter for the first time in five years, hoping to put death rumors to rest.
The founder of the whistleblower hub joined Twitter in October 2011 but never posted any tweets — until Tuesday.
The first, which he sent to discuss the death rumors, claims “[r]umors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” The second tweet is a retweet of a publication from WikiLeaks’ official account.
Ecuador will hold its first round of presidential elections on February 19. Eight candidates will be on the ballot and the final runoff is scheduled for April 2. The country’s President Rafael Correa is not running in the election for the first time in more than a decade. The ruling PAIS Alliance party will be presented by Lenin Moreno, a former vice president.

(REPORT) — An estimated 300 premature deaths were associated with a serious UK air pollution episode in 2014, parliament has been told.

(REPORT) — London has broken legal air pollution limits for 2017 within five days, according to King’s College London.
The annual limit for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) was breached on Brixton Road in south London at around 9pm on Thursday.
