JERUSALEM: Protests and anger as fortress like security surrounds al-Aqsa Mosque

Israeli authorities have reopened the Noble Sanctuary upon which the al-Aqsa Mosque is situated after closing the area to worshippers and pilgrims for the first time in two decades.
The closure came after two Israeli policemen were killed by three Arab-Israeli citizens. The three Arab-Israelis were subsequently shot dead.
The reopening of the Noble Sanctuary complete with vast security barriers and checkpoints has angered locals who worship at the ancient holy site.

Donald Trump to keep US Embassy to Israel in Tel Aviv…for now

In 1995, Bill Clinton signed the The Jerusalem Embassy Act into law. The law is effectively a memorandum of understanding whereby it was understood that the United States would relocate its Embassy to Israel from the modern city of Tel Aviv to the ancient holy city of Jerusalem which is a partially disputed territory between Israel and Palestine.
Since Clinton’s 1995 signage of the controversial Act, every US President including Clinton has delayed implementing the move, generally due to pragmatic reasons of not wanting to bog the US down in an inflamed situation in the Levant.
