Syrian army ‘planning to surround’ remaining ISIS fighters north west of Al-Sukhnah

That the Syrian army’s capture of Al-Sukhnah is a devastating blow to ISIS is shown by the attempt ISIS made just a few hours later to recapture the town.  The Al-Masdar news agency however reports that ISIS’s counter-attack was repulsed with heavy losses, leaving the Syrian army in secure control of the town.

US Airstrikes Kill At Least 43 Civilians In Syria’s Raqqa

New reports out of the ISIS capital city of Raqqa say US airstrikes hit a number of residential districts in the city over the course of Saturday, killing at least 43 civilians and wounding an unknown, but a substantial number of others.

Syria army stopped by ISIS in Al-Sukhnah; advances in Deir Ezzor

Latest reports from the fighting in Syria speak of an intense battle between the Syrian army and ISIS for control of the central Syrian town of Al-Sukhnah on the main highway between Palmyra and Deir Ezzor.
Ten days ago the Syrian army appeared confident that it would storm Al-Sukhnah with little difficulty.  It is now clear however that the Syrian army seriously underestimated ISIS’s determination to hold onto the town.

Russia SLAMS America and its allies for FAILING to condemn terrorist attack on Russian Embassy

This week, Russia’s embassy in Damascus came under attack from motor fire by the al-Qaeda group known as al-Nusra Front.
At a plenary session of the United Nations Security Council, Russia asked the body to condemn the savage terrorist attack, but the United States and its allies blocked this from happening, as though tacitly endorsing the attack on a peaceful diplomatic compound.
