30 Years Later Iraq is Still About the Oil (..and gas!)

Submitted by Steve Brown…
US-State motives are always financial even when shrouded in ideological nonsense. The US military occupation of Iraq and its embassy there is not just for show. Problematic Key Leader Engagements happen for reasons. The end result being in US dollars* — or Emirati durham — or GBP sterling.  Unfortunately many people lose their lives over many years as a result of that pursuit.

Securing the M4 and M5 Highways in Syria a Blow to Turkey? Or for US/ Israel & Their "Greater Kurdistan" Plan?

The claim of "blow to Turkey" is being made in regard to the securing the two highways.  Though, it's completely out of touch with reality to my mind. You may ask- Why do you say that?  Why is this situation being viewed so differently here then elsewhere?Let me explain. The Year is 2018..... And the Astana Guarantors made the Idlib Agreement- In that agreement the M-4 and M-5 highways were to be reopened because it is beneficial to Iran, Syria and Turkey that this happens. As stated nearly two years ago:

Can the “World’s Second Superpower” Rise From the Ashes of Twenty Years of War?

February 15 marks the day, 17 years ago, when global demonstrations against the pending Iraq invasion were so massive that the New York Times called world public opinion “the second superpower.” But the U.S. ignored it and invaded Iraq anyway. So what has become of the momentous hopes of that day?

OPCW Scandal: Scott Ritter on How History Repeated Itself with Syria

Leaked documents from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) suggest that high-level officials have indeed manipulated or ignored the empirical findings of its ground investigation team in Douma, Syria. Did the OPCW fail to maintain an adequate chain of custody when collecting evidence in Douma, and at other sites? Are the Western-funded and militant-aligned White Helmets a reliable and neutral source for such important evidence gathering?

More Lies on Iran: The White House Just Can’t Help Itself as New Facts Emerge

Admittedly the news cycle in the United States seldom runs longer than twenty-four hours, but that should not serve as an excuse when a major story that contradicts what the Trump Administration has been claiming appears and suddenly dies. The public that actually follows the news might recall a little more than one month ago the United States assassinated a senior Iranian official named Qassem Soleimani.

Scuffle Between Syrian Civilians and US Soldiers Reflects Increasing Hostility to US Troops

As resistance to U.S. troop presence in both Iraq and Syria gains steam, a rare scuffle between Syrian civilians and U.S. forces broke out on Wednesday resulting in the death of one Syrian, believed to be a civilian, and the wounding of another. A U.S. soldier was also reportedly injured in the scuffle. The event is likely to escalate tensions, particularly in the Northeastern region where the incident took place, as Syria, Iraq and Iran have pushed for an end to the U.S. troop presence in the region following the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.
