A U.S. Army veteran in Somers, Iowa was arrested and charged with desecrating the United States flag after hanging it upside down under a Chinese flag in protest of an oil pipeline being built without his permission next to a water well that supplies water to his home.
The pipeline is being built against his wishes after eminent domain was granted to the Texas company building the pipeline.

Iowa City police are patting themselves on the back for stopping an unarmed black man at gunpoint and not killing him.
Even the man they stopped, Iowa Hawkeye football player Faith Ekakitie,  congratulated police for not killing him – even though he admits he was in complete fear for his life last Wednesday when police pointed four guns at him and informed him he “fit the description” of a bank robber.

The Democratic congressional primary in Iowa-- unrelated to the presidential caucuses so long, long, long ago-- take place June 6, just a couple days over a month from now, June 7. Yesterday at this time, we looked at some of the so-called "Democrats" in Congress who are willing to sell out Social Security and Medicare and other programs that make up the safety net. Who are these people and why aren't they Republicans? Well, most of them are from the Republican wing of the Democratic Party, the Wall Street-owned New Dems or the shriveled Blue Dog caucus.

As we've been saying lately, Chuck Grassley's policy of naked and hyper-partisan obstructionism against President Obama's SCOTUS nominee has changed the dynamics of the Iowa Senate race. Once thought a safe seat, Iowa is now in play. Remember, Obama beat McCain there 54-44% and then beat Romney statewide 52-46%.
