GOP racism

The racists and plutocrats who, hand-in-hand, have long taken over the Republican Party are tickled pink-- or deep red-- that their avowed strategy from the day after Obama had the temerity to beat John McCain has worked. They set out to poison the well… and blame Obama for the results.

Ted Cruz's father might not be as much as a racist neanderthal as he comes off. I mean, some people think he just acts that way to make his son seem relatively less racist and neanderthal. Or, if that doesn't work… well, people look at the old man and say, "poor, Ted; no wonder he turned out that way.

Is the tragedy of Ferguson serving as a national teaching moment? Maybe… at least for people open to learning. Nate Silver made a point the other day, for example, of how most police don't live in the cities they serve-- especially not white police serving in minority areas. In Ferguson, for example, "more than two-thirds of the civilian population is black.

Does this guy look like a racist to you?I have to admit, I had never heard of Republican blogger Jim Hoft-- better known as "Gateway Pundit"-- until Media Matters dubbed him the Dumbest Man on the Internet.

Iowa, a swing state, has swung light blue in recent years. Bill Clinton won both times. Al Gore beat Bush in 2000. Obama won both times as well, 54-44% against McCain and 52-46% against Romney. The Democats control the state Senate and the GOP holds the state House. Party registration shows 689,794 Democrats (32.0%), 672,308 Republicans (31.2%) and 792,363 (36.8%) independents and others.The only really conservative congressional district in the state, is IA-04, home to one of Congress' most outspoken racists, Steve King.

They all look the same to me; which one is Mark Walker?After the North Carolina Republican primary runoff last month, many people were stunned by what happened in NC-06 (think Mayberry), where a heavy Establishment favorite, Phil Berger's son, Phil, Jr., was defeated by fringe right-wing extremist, Baptist Choral Pastor/gun nut Mark Walker.

If you want to understand why there's a crisis of refugee children at the southern border, you're probably not a Republican-- and you're surely not Texas reactionary and would-be-presidente Ted Cruz. But reading about the horrific U.S. policy agenda in Guatemala is probably a good place to start.

One down...Mississippi dodged a bullet last Tuesday when Democrats turned out in strong enough numbers to save doddering Senator Thad Cochran from certain defeat at the hands of reactionary white supremacist Chris McDaniel.

Last week, the biggest, baddest news in the NY-11 election campaign was about how the indicted Mafioso incumbent, Michael "Mikey Suits" Grimm, had seen his campaign funding dry up-- a big problem since he's been using his campaign donations to finance his legal case and his fight for a plea bargain that will include only minimal prison tim

Many Republican Party leaders, always sensitive to their hate-fueled, paranoid base, are still clinging to their racism and bigotry. Its reflected in their policy agenda, the Ryan budget, their refusal to pass the bipartisan Senate comprehensive immigration plan (which even Boehner admits is being held back by the hate mongers in his caucus).
