France to Become First Country to Ban Disposable Plastic Cups and Plates

In an effort to help curb some of the strains that disposable plastic puts on landfills, France is set to become the first country to ban all disposable cutlery products. By 2020, any disposable cutlery items will be required to be made from 50% biologically-sourced materials. By 2025, the cutlery will have to be made of 60% biologically sourced materials that can be composted at home. [1]

I visited Iraq in 1999. At the time, there were no so-called ‘jihadis’ espousing the principles of ‘jihadism’, whatever the interpretation may be. On the outskirts of Baghdad was a military training camp, not for al-Qaeda, but for Mojahedin-e-Khalq, an Iranian militant exile group that worked, with foreign funding and arms, to overthrow the Iranian Republic.
At the time, the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein used the exiled organization to settle scores with his rivals in Tehran, just as they, too, espoused anti-Iraqi government militias to achieve the exact same purpose.

On Friday, Egypt’s Al Azhar Institution – considered the highest seat of learning for Sunni Muslims – said attacks such as the one in Nice were vile actions perpetrated by terrorists who contradicted Islamic principles.

Search for EgyptAir enters second day

EgyptAir resumed normal flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport on Friday [Xinhua] 
 
Naval units from Egypt, France, Greece and the US spent the second day in a massive operation in one of the deepest regions of the Mediterranean for debris from EgyptAir MS804 which is believed to have crashed before dawn on Thursday.
At press time, the Egyptian military said it is investigating sighted debris in the Mediterranean 290 kms north of the coastal city of Alexandria for evidence it belongs to the downed plane.
