Message from the High Court: Carry on arming the Saudis
Campaigners are furious with a High Court decision in London allowing the UK Government to carry on exporting arms to Saudi Arabia for use against Yemenis.
The Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) brought the legal action against the Secretary of State for International Trade for continuing to grant export licences for arms to Saudi Arabia, arguing that this was against UK policy, which states that the government must refuse such licences if there’s a clear risk that the arms might be used to commit serious violations of International Humanitarian Law.
The UK’s Secret Drone War: Legal Basis Uncertain, Civilian Casualties Unknown
Sputnik – July 11, 2017 The use of armed drones by the US in countries such as Iraq, Pakistan, Syria and Yemen is well known, but not well documented. THE COLUMN: Queen’s A-Team Caught in FIFA Scandal, Fallon’s Russian Conspiracy Theories
This week the trio of David Cameron, Prince William and David Beckham were snared in a FIFA corruption scandal, but how deep does it go? FIFA report SLAMS Britain’s corrupt World Cup bid–Russia is in the clean
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has issued a report saying that there was nothing untoward about Russia’s ultimately successful bid for the 2018 Football World Cup. Qatar who will host the World Cup in 2022 was also given a clean report, although now Qatar is facing other problems due to the protracted dispute with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the UAE.
However, Britain whose state-owned broadcaster BBC has been relentlessly trying to smear Russia’s hosting of the 2018 World Cup has been slammed in the recent report.
THERESA MAY: neither the style nor the policies Britain wants
It seemed strange and somewhat vulgar that the only contribution David Cameron made during the June 2017 British general election was a photograph posted on Instagram of his and his wife’s feet while on holiday in Portugal.
Aid of former UK PM calls for Theresa May’s resignation
Steve Hilton was something of David Cameron’s right hand man for many years. He’s no socialist and no conservative, just as Cameron was neither. He represents a neo-liberal strata of neo-conservatism (if there is even a real difference anymore) that Theresa May’s Conservative party is said to represent, but one which looks increasingly like a rudderless Titanic.
Britain’s next Prime Minister could likely be Jeremy Corbyn
Brexit which in many ways put British politics on the international map for the first time since the 1960s, was not supposed to happen. The establishment of all the major parties, the business sector, academia, the mainstream media, the arts and science community (which still hold some influence in Britain) were all opposed to it.
Likewise, the polling data was so set against Brexit that on the night of the vote, a sober Nigel Farage all but conceded defeat. Several hours and several drinks later he emerged to give a victory speech.
