At a press conferences in Syria’s capital of Damascus, the Chinese Special Envoy for Syria, Xie Xiaoyon, furthered China’s call for the unity and territorial integrity of Syria. He declared that China opposes as division of Syria’s territory as part of a political solution to end the seven year long conflict. In addition, he noted that the country has experienced a great degree of damage both in the way of its land and people, and therefore calls on the international community to step up and provide more assistance to the war torn Middle Eastern country.

The Syrian government has announced a ceasefire covering the southern Syrian Governorates of Daraa, Quneitra and As-Suwyda. Al-Qaeda remnants remain in each of these areas but have recently been incurring heavy loses at the hands of the Syrian Arab Army.
The ceasefire will cover the region of the Golan Heights in Quneitra Governorate that has been subject to sustained Israeli aggression over the last fortnight.

Syria’s safe zones are now operational. Many are currently questioning whether these areas, mostly in the west and centre of the country will be effective in ending violence?

The huge international attention devoted to the US missile strike on Syria’s Al-Shayrat air base has drawn attention away from the continuing progress of the Syrian army in the war in Syria.

A terrorist offensive in Dara’a has been thwarted thanks to bombings by the Russian Air Force.
While US air strikes have been markedly down since Russia suspended the so-called flight safety memorandum in the aftermath of America’s attack on Syria’s Shayrat air base, Russian fighters and bombers continue to aid the Syrian Arab Army as they prepare for a large counter-offensive aimed at securing Dara’a from its current Salifist occupiers.
