The recent assassination attempt against Nicolás Maduro, whose drone operation was neutralized by members of the Bolivarian National Armed Force, is part of a long-standing plan to end the process of change in Venezuela, known as the Bolivarian Revolution. But it was also an attempt to warn the armed forces, with the aim of dividing them and adding a sector to promote a coup d’état.
This week my guest is journalist Paul Dobson of Venezuelanalysis. We had a wide ranging discussion on Venezuela, its current political and economic situation, and western media distortions. Following the attempt on Venezuelan Nicolas Maduro’s life with two explosive-laden drones on Saturday, the President promised to get to the bottom of the failed plot. Last night he showed that his government has learned some things at least, and Maduro says there is still more evidence to come.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro says he has survived an assassination attempt involving explosive drones during a military event in Caracas.
Live footage of his speech shows the president suddenly looking upwards in terror as dozens of soldiers break formation and scatter.
Maduro has blamed Colombia for the attack and elements within the US of instigating “a right-wing plot” to kill him.
Maduro added that he had “no doubt” Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos was “behind this attack”.
