Kentucky Wildcats head basketball coach John Calipari is largely credited with leading the way to establish what has become known as the "one and done" rule: basketball players must be at least one year out of high school before playing at the professional level. Many fans of college basketball are angry their elite players leave after a single year, but others are angry that there's a waiting requirement at all, which violates the freedom of contract.

New York is set to become the first U.S. state to make tuition free for students at public state universities and community colleges if they come from low- and middle-income families, a proposal that has been endorsed by former presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders, who promised free college education for all during his campaign.
