Following the 10th BRICS summit, which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa between July 25-27, the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has expressed his hope that Turkey will be accepted into the bloc. Erdogan pointed out that the bloc has expressed its willingness to expand its membership, and that with Turkey already being a part of the G20 alongside the BRICS countries, that a platform of cooperation to some degree is already present, and that since the BRICS countries are not opposed to the accession of Turkey, that he wishes they will soon permit it so.

Britain is on the lookout for who will be its trading partners once it has consummated its divorce from the European Union. British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt traveled to Beijing in order to further develop ties and to try to get the ball rolling on a post Brexit trade arrangement. Not only is Britain looking to find a deal with China, but with each member of the EU, in particular France and Austria while on his current trip to develop trade ties.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish President, is embossed with the sheer magnitude of what the BRICS bloc represents, as well as what it has achieved, and is expected to accomplish going forward and wants a piece of the action, so it seems. Erdogan was invited to the 10th Leaders’ Summit of BRICS countries in Johannesburg representing the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

As China transitions from coal energy to liquefied natural gas, it is making its way towards becoming the largest import market for natural gas in the world. LNG is, of course, considerably more environmentally friendly than coal. China is importing Russian LNG from the Arctic via shipments from above the Arctic Circle, which travel the Northern Sea Route, which is available for open shipping use during the summer months.

Trump’s tariffs programme might have been billed as a national security precaution, but that’s just how he managed to get it by Congress. The rhetoric surrounding Trump’s trade policy as it relates to the EU had to do with negotiating ‘better’ deals, because the current ones just aren’t good enough for America.
