One of the uglier moments of Wednesday night's GOP debate-- chock full'o'ugly moments-- was when rabid climate-change denier Marco Rubio decided to make his presence known by making a tasteless joke about California's devastating drought. It took about three hours before the CNN moderators brought up climate change as a topic of discussion-- which must've lasted for less than five minutes-- and, predictably, Rubio was the first to jump in... to denigrate it entirely.

Arizona needs a REAL choice, not 2 conservativesAnn Kirkpatrick is a New Dem congresswoman from a swing district in Arizona, and the DSCC recruited her to run against John McCain for Senate. AZ-01 is immense, covering nearly half the state and the gigantic Navajo Reservation.

Although the PVI of IL-12 is even, Obama won this district in the southwest corner of Illinois (across the Mississippi from St. Louis) twice-- 55-44% against McCain and 50-48% against Romney. When longtime conservaDem Jerry Costello finally retired in 2012, Obama's draw at the polls helped another DINO type, Bill Enyart, hold the seat for the Democrats.

If police have been conducting shake-downs in their ‘drug war’ simply by going after the smell of marijuana, they will soon have difficulty upholding that action in a court of law – at least in Arizona. A judge there just ruled that police can no longer use the aroma of marijuana as ‘probable cause.’
That’s right, simply the smell of ‘Mary Jane’ is no longer sufficient reason for police to initiate a raid.

The DSCC isn't counting on Arizona in the 2016 battle to regain the Senate majority for the Democrats. John McCain, age 78 and first elected to Congress in 1982, is running again and a new poll from PPP shows him beating any of the potential Democratic nominees. The Republicans could, however, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Republican Doug Ducey is Arizona’s 23rd and current governor. The governor is perhaps best known for having been CEO of Cold Stone Creamery until he and his partner sold the ice cream chain in 2007. He also served as the state’s treasurer, and he is Arizona’s first male governor to hold office since Fife Symington in the 1990s. Ducey is once again making the Arizona news thanks to his budget plan. He is also sounding the alarm that Republican politics are purely self-interested, and that they are anachronistic and detrimental to the public interest at best.
