by NoahIt's really just democracy at work. Both the woman on the top and the total asshole on the bottom are representing those who voted for them perfectly. They both know what their supporters stand for and are doing their best to meet those expectations. No judgements on my part, of course.

Old status quo politicians-- I usually refer to them as careerists-- feel very threatened when Democratic constituencies elect younger non-establishment representatives.

The carbon-tax approach to Climate Change has been an utter and preposterous failure-- the stupidest bullshit approach to an existential calamity in the history of man. Pelosi and other establishment Democrats like it and it's becoming a fallback for Republicans now that the real world is moving away from that "market-based" non-solution.

I spoke with a member of Congress today about the paucity of original co-sponsors for the Green New Deal resolution-- it's a non-binding resolution laying out some ideas to work towards, not a proposed law. I asked the member why so few House members (65) signed on. The member told me several things:

But now that AOC is actually getting ready to introduce a formal bill-- although some of the details are still sketchy and up for negotiation-- there are far fewer members... at least so far. I wish that crazy Trump would just settle down and go spend his days playing golf again so AOC could get Congress working on a sensible agenda. You know who's work I'm really enjoying?
