Alan Grayson

Grayson was in a relatively foul mood when I spoke with him late yesterday. He had spent a good part of it in a dark, dreadful little room where congressmembers who want to read classified information have to go-- without any electrical devices or even a pen and paper. Nothing can be copied. And almost no Members ever bother. But Grayson always bothers. He goes down into the cave whenever he has to vote on anything pertaining to national security and finds the relevant documents and tapes.

Chuck Schumer has been spending a shocking amount of time on the phone bothering Democratic donors-- personally-- and cajoling, begging and threatening them not to contribute money to Alan Grayson's Senate campaign. He claims Grayson's progressive agenda makes him "unelectable" (the word that Schumer uses on every call, and that his minions use when they talk to media outlets) in purple Florida.

Chuck Schumer (D-NY) would like to name the Democratic nominee for the open Florida Senate seat.

Thursday, Nobel laureate in economics Joe Stiglitz and Mark Medish, a former Treasury official, penned on OpEd for the Wall Street Journal about the unfolding disaster in Puerto Rico, disaster that can be stopped before it spirals out of control. They are concerned that the U.S. is letting the island territory "fall prey to the claws of vulture creditors."

Yesterday, on the 80th anniversary of the enactment of the Social Security Act-- which had been vilified as "socialism" by conservatives-- we took a look at the NY-24 congressional campaign of Social Security Works co-founder Eric Kingson. Kingston, of course, is only one of many progressive Democrats who are militant about preserving and expanding Social Security.

Forget that Evangelical Republicans favor President Obama's approach to climate change. You would be crazy if you thought right-wing hacks like John Boehner would ever put partisan considerations aside for the good of the country, mankind and the planet.

Democratic Party political boss and throwback Chuck Schumer has no primary and no viable Republican opponent for reelection next year. So he has plenty of time to sit on the phone calling progressive donors and threatening them for backing Alan Grayson in his Democratic primary battle against Schumer's conservative puppet, New Dem/"ex"-Republican Patrick Murphy, who has just spent 3 years in Congress voting to back Boehner's and Wall Street's agenda.
