Trumpanzee was yelling and screaming about fake polls again. It must be a conspiracy, though, because every poll from the right, the left and the nonpartisan ones say the same thing: Trumps the most reviled occupant of the Oval Office since the history of scientific polling.
Perhaps you heard or read in the last few days that U.S. life expectancy has dropped ny a tenth of a percent in the U.S. since Trumpanzee took over the Oval Office. And it’s his supporters— prescription drug addicts— who are overdosing and dying. Americans can now expect to live to be 78.6 years down from 78.7 last year, primarily because of the spike in drug overdoses. During the campaign, tackling the problem was a constant Trump pledge.
New Mexico’s first congressional district— basically Albuquerque— is nice and blue and it’s not going to fall into Republican hands any time soon. Hillary beat Trump 51.6% to 35.1% and the PVI is D+7. The Congressmmeber, Michelle Lujan Grisham, is leaving hereat to run for governor. She’s garden variety Democrat, not terrible, but nothing to write him about.
In the 2006 midterm elections there was a huge wave against Bush and the Republican Party, Despite the DCCC running some really ghastly Republican-lite candidates-- tons of putrid Blue Dogs-- the wave swept them into office. The Republican House losses: 30 seats. The list below are districts that flipped from red to fake-blue and then subsequently flipped back to red once voters realized they been cheated (primarily by DCCC charlatan Rahm Emanuel):
Part of Señor Trumpanzee's absurd-- but effective-- pitch during his election campaign was about how he would be a champion for "the forgotten men and women of America." Instead he's been a champion for corporate executives, the Wall Street banksters and the wealthiest and greediest among us. And, slowly but surely, the forgotten men and women of America have begun to catch on.
This whole PPP Twitter thread on recent polling is interesting for folks who enjoy following elections on a congressional level. In almost every case they polled Republican incumbents against "generic Democrats," in other words, whomever wins the primary.
Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district is in the southwest corner of the state. Most of the voters live in the hilly suburbs west, south and east of Pittsburgh although there are large rural sections of the district in Washington and Greene counties. The 2015 PVI (R+10) slipped to R+11 this year after Trump won the district 58.1% to 38.5%.
Some candidates will say anything to get support. So how do you figure out how a candidate is likely to behave in Congress? The easiest candidates are state legislators. Today the 2 members of Congress with the best voting records and Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Jamie Raskin (D-MD). And each of them had great records in their respective state legislatures, not just of voting well, but also records of leadership.
