UN Report Puts Cost Of Syrian War Destruction At Nearly $400 BILLION! (Why Am I Not Surprised?)

It does seem that the major 'conflicts' in the war in Syria to free itself from the US/Israel/NATO scourge is indeed "winding down".... The battles in southwestern Syria have ended with a clear victory for the good guys aka the Syrian government forces (SAA)  and their Russian/Arabic allies... What is left now is for the SAA to begin operations to clean up the last vestiges of the scourge that has invaded their country in the Idlib pocket to the northwest of the nation as well as to seek some type of rapport with the SDF/Kurds in the northeast....It has now been over 7 years since the US created this "civil war" in Syria, and finally some experts are sitting down and doing a thorough assessment of the damages and what that cost is and has been to the Syrian nation itself.... And according to the following report, that comes from the Zero Hedge website, at www.zerohedge.com, the cost is absolutely appalling and alarming... Apparently the estimated cost of the damages is nearly $400 BILLION!  .... The group said it will produce a full final report of its findings later in September. Though over half of Syria's pre-war population either fled the country or was internally displaced, according to most estimates, since last year there's been a number of reports suggesting a significant surge in refugees and displaced persons actually returning to their homes to rebuild. Just prior to the beginning of the 2011 unrest, Syria was a fast-growing, lower-middle-income country with an average annual GDP growth of 4.3%; but a major study produced six years into the war by the World Bank, entitled The Toll of War: The Economic and Social Consequences of the Conflict in Syria, found that by 2017 Syria’s GDP had con­tracted by an estimated 63%, amounting to a cumu­lative loss of $226 billion, about four times the 2010 GDP, the World Bank report found.Chart numbers based on 2017 World Bank StudyYou will find more infographics at StatistaThe final ESCWA report is expected to take into account these and other economic loss figures from throughout the war. Journalist for the watchdog media group FAIR, Ben Norton, said the new UN ESCWA report underscores that economic warfare was a key element to external plans for regime change.Norton said, "one of the intended effects of the international war on Syria: the US, UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar weren't able to overthrow the Syrian government, but they were able to bleed the country of c. $400 billion." He added, "And it's the people who suffer."NTS Notes: Yes, this amount of some $400 BILLION is very shocking indeed, but the HUMAN cost of this "civil war" is not being told... From articles that I have seen so far, and there are many, the cost in lives for the criminal US and Israel to vainly try to have Syria destroyed and brutalized is at least one MILLION innocent lives and still counting!   Syria may take years to build and to cover that $400 BILLION price tag to have it restored as a whole, but it will take a very long time to forgive or forget about that horrific cost in civilian lives.So.... Who will foot the bill now for the restoration of Syria?   That $400 BILLION is well beyond what Syria can possibly repay at the present time for rebuilding of its infrastructure, and there is not a hope in hell that the US will ever find itself responsible for the damage they have inflicted and be made to pay up for the massive destruction that they have done.. Therefore it will take years for Syria to make good on these losses and to have the nation rebuilt to even near its pre "civil war" status...Honestly, when I saw this report, I was not shocked... Modern warfare is so gawd damn expensive and in many cases destroys nations beyond the material damage inflicted in such wars..... But again, the real cost is in the human suffering to the Syrian people that have had their very livelihoods destroyed...THAT we can absolutely blame on the criminal US/Israel/NATO scourge that obviously did not give a damn about the suffering they inflicted in Syria.More to comeNTS
