This Italian Catholic Priest Was a Great Scholar of Liberty

In a footnote in the second volume of Law, Legislation and Liberty, F.A. Hayek noted that Rosmini’s The Constitution Under Social Justice made “more generally known” the term social justice “in its modern sense.” But Rosmini’s understanding of these words was quite different from the one widely accepted today. He was perhaps the staunchest defender of private property in 19th-century Italy.
