It’s a cold war
somewhere in South Asia
or is it India?
For ages, they have been telling
us, the sages, that good neighbours
are ambassadors
of ill will
and, of course, goodwill
but the cold war persisted
though some insisted that this
was an aberration
mere lack of concentration
in between there were wars
not cold but burning
like the tiger burning
now things are not so bright
we are losing the inner light
and the cold war has reached minus degrees
like deathly squawking of geese.
