The droughts and floods
and storms and heat waves
of the ecological apocalypse
have entered on cue
The powers that be
are racing to a war
that will begin not end
with use of nuclear weapons
But we are given
to focus our concern
on microaggressions and words
that trigger our anxieties
That make us
feel uncomfortable
and reduce us to tears
in the refuge of our safe space.
