American blues guitarist, singer, songwriter and band leader Elmore James performing Dust My Broom is this week’s Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick. Blues artist Robert Johnson originally recorded the song as I Believe I’ll Dust My Broom in 1936. James’ first recording of the song was on August 5th, 1951 for Lillian McMurry’s Trumpet label. Since then it achieved its popularity through recordings by Elmore James and has become a blues standard.
