Midnight Oil- “Beds Are Burning”
The Soothing the Beast BFP/Jamiol Music Pick this week is a protest song by Australian rock band Midnight Oil. Their song, Beds are Burning, is about giving native Australian lands back to the Pintupi. The Pintupi are an Australian Aboriginal group who are part of the Western Desert and who were among the very last people to come in from the desert. This live performance was part of a concert held in March 2009 to raise funds for those affected by the February 2009 Victorian bushfires and Queensland floods. The event was held simultaneously at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Sydney Cricket Ground...enjoy...DJPJ.
