Hour one rants…
Hour 2 – Pt 1 with Joan Mellen
Bill O’Reilly Lied!
Professor and Investigative Writer, Joan Mellen, Discusses Latest Scandal
According to Politico, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly has repeatedly lied about being present at the suicide of Lee Harvey Oswald associate George S. de Mohrenschildt, the left-leaning watchdog group Media Matters alleged in a new report on February 24.
In O’Reilly’s book Killing Kennedy and in several other appearances, O’Reilly has said that as a reporter for the Dallas-based station WFAA-TV he was on the porch of de Mohrenschildt’s daughter’s house in Palm Beach, Florida, when he heard de Mohrenschildt shoot himself with a shotgun in March 1977.
Two former colleagues of O’Reilly’s at WFAA-TV told Media Matters O’Reilly was in Dallas at the time of de Mohrenschildt’s suicide.
The research in Joan Mellen’s book, Our Man In Haiti: George de Mohrenschildt and the CIA in the Nightmare Republic (TrineDay) exposes new information about de Mohrenschildt and quotes a new witness, Joe Dryer. Dryer had a lunch date with de Mohrenschildt on the day after his “suicide.” De Mohrenschildt told Dryer that there was something important that he wished to discuss with him (de Mohrenschildt had hoped to see Dryer on the day of his murder, but Dryer postponed to the next day).
Our Man in Haiti is a harrowing journey into the belly of the beast. Following the trail of George de Mohrenschildt, an obscure character lurking in the shadows of the JFK assassination, Joan Mellen uncovers the CIA’s destructive machinations in Haiti from the 1950s until today. The shameful story is filled with deception, greed, violence and intrigue. The cast of characters – including self-proclaimed barons, arms and drug dealers, paramilitary mercenaries and Mata Hari-like spies – seems to have taken refuge from an undiscovered John LeCarre novel. But sadly, this is not fiction. It is all meticulously source-noted and horrifyingly true. Joan Mellen has done an astonishing job of wading through previously secret government documents to tell a story that continues to this day – the story of how the CIA goes about manipulating and overthrowing governments of desperately poor countries in order to secure the profits of big American corporations.
