The Government's "Free" Lunch Program Is Horribly Dysfunctional

In 2018, U.S. taxpayers spent $17 billion⁠ on two federal school lunch programs. Over the last four years, federal school lunch programs have had improper payment rates of 16 percent and 23 percent, respectively.
