The so-called capital of ISIS’s alleged caliphate is about to fall.
Watch a video of this report here:
Russia’s envoy to the UN Office in Geneva Aleksey Borodavkin has announced that the Syrian Army is planning an assault on ISIS’s HQ Raqqa with the assistance of Russian bombers:
“This is what the Syrian Army is doing with support from the Russian Air Force.”
“As a result of these actions, Palmyra has been recaptured and now they are planning to launch an operation towards Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa.”
“Fighting is taking place against groups like Al-Nusra Front in Aleppo and a few other places,”
Back in March of this year, reports emerged claiming that defections and uprisings were occurring inside Raqqa as a result of the barbaric terrorists’ rule.
What state this has left the city in is currently unknown, but it could be possible that resistance groups will be ready to help the Syrian Army when they arrive.
In February, the Syrian Army reported that it had destroyed the last entrenched terrorist position on the road to Raqqa, so the defensive situation of the jihadis is not looking good.
Russia’s air campaign has been ridiculously effective against the terrorists, and continued cooperation with the Syrian Army should make retaking Raqqa an achievable goal.
