Technocracy Against Democracy
What is technocracy? How has it evolved? This episode examines the rise, ideology, institutionalization and spread of technocracy (“rule by experts”) around much of the world. In particular, this episode looks at the Trilateral Commission as one of the main transnational technocratic institutions, which was a major force behind three recent technocratic coups in Europe: Mario Monti in Italy, Lucas Papademos in Greece, and Arseniy Yatsenyuk in Ukraine. Technocracy, ultimately, defines itself in opposition to democracy, and as the ‘theocracy for the financial oligarchy’.
