Guess the originating source for this latest news? Of course, it's the SDF. Do I believe this claim??? Not at this time. It's too early to take this latest report at face value. My inclination leans towards the idea that if there was a REAL deal between Damascus and some group of Kurds. The deal would be announced by Russia, Damascus and the allied Kurds, all together. What I suspect is we are most probably entering yet another shift in propaganda.1- The claim is that Syrian Army is going to take control of the entire length of the Syrian Turkish border from the SDF/PKK.Link: Major twist in Syrian conflict as Kurds find allies in fight against Turkey
Beirut: The Syrian army will deploy along the entire length of the border with Turkey in an agreement with the Kurdish-led administration in northern Syria, the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces have said.
That's a lot of ground to cover- Considering the length of the Syrian/ Turkish border is more then 822 kilometers. That would require Damascus to move all their overstretched resources to the border. Highly doubtful. Since Syria is fighting a multi front war. 2- SDF does NOT control the entire length of the border. With Turkey having control in two areas. Including Afrin. And their border control is expanding.
"It would also allow for the liberation of other Syrian cities occupied by the Turkish army such as Afrin, in the country's north-west, the statement said"
The news report below is a bit more compelling, and is in line with something Lavrov had stated earlier this week: First refresh: Go back to this post
"We will be pressing for the beginning of a dialogue between Turkey and Syria. There are reasons to believe that this will meet the interests of both countries. Also, we will be promoting contacts between Damascus and Kurdish organizations that renounce extremism and terrorist methods of activity," Lavrov said.
Then check this out :Hope for halt to Turkish assault after Russia hosts talks in Syria
Ahmed Suleiman, a senior member of the Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party in Syria, said the talks were being held at Russia's Hmeimim airbase in Latakia. He did not say if he or his party - which is independent from the SDF - had a role in the negotiations.
Asked about Suleiman's comments, the head of the SDF media office Mustafa Bali said "no comment". "We have confirmed from the start of the (Turkish) invasion that we will study all options that could spare our people ethnic cleansing," he said.
Suleiman, who is from the city of Qamishli in a part of Syria held by the SDF, said he hoped for an agreement between the sides that would "halt the ongoing war and especially its catastrophic and dangerous consequences".
His party, one of Syria's oldest Kurdish groups, is not involved in the autonomous administration set up by the SDF and other Kurdish groups such as the PYD party in northern Syria.
Which begs the question..??? Was Heyrin Khalaf negotiating with the Russians at Hmeimim airbase? Which caused discomfort or downright anger for the YPG/SDF/PKK and they killed her- which is actually what I suspect. She too belonged to one of Syria's earliest formed political parties.
