Welcome to The Homepage of Independent Media: Getting Started

Welcome back to the longtime Anti-Media readers — and greetings to our new ones!
Anti-Media’s evolution from a fiercely independent news blog to The Homepage of Independent Media is now fully operational. Our journey started as our founder Nick Bernabe’s small anti-establishment Facebook page in 2013 and grew into millions of social media followers and hundreds of millions of visits to our website. By combining our strengths of broad spectrum anti-establishment journalism, strategic partnerships with dozens of premier independent media outlets, and a huge network of activists and free thinkers from across the political spectrum, we’ve created a new homepage for the independent media movement.
Here’s how it works:
First you’ll need to create an account. We don’t ask for anything but an email address and a password. You can further customize your profile if you choose to. We can’t see your password, and your privacy and data is safe with us. Sign up by clicking here. Confirm your account by checking your email inbox (if you don’t see the confirmation email, check your spam folder).
Now you’re ready to start helping us co-create the Homepage of Independent Media.
The first thing you need to know is that the entire website is based on an algorithmic social ranking system. You’ll see the up and down arrows on the front page next to all the news links and on the content itself.

Don’t think of these upvotes and downvotes as “like” or “dislikes,” think of them as ranking the news’ importance. Upvote if you think it’s important, downvote if you think it’s not. The more upvotes a piece of content receives, the higher up on the page it will rank — eventually making it to the top of the homepage.
Also included in the social ranking algorithm are comments and time. The more upvotes and comments a piece of content receives in the least amount of time, the higher it will rank.
Explaining the three columns: OUR NEWS, THEIR NEWS, and MY NEWS
OUR NEWS is the Anti-Media editorial team’s original content. These are articles from our staff writers including original reporting, analysis, opinions, videos, and other content that we produce in-house. Also featured in this section is imported content from our independent media syndication partners.
THEIR NEWS is content from some of the top independent media outlets on the internet. This is your go-to place for finding hard-hitting news, analysis, opinion, and views from across the political spectrum from established and trusted sources from around the web.
MY NEWS is where users of the Anti-Media site can post links to content that they find important.

Anti-Media has a vetting process to filter out inaccurate and/or old information, and we will approve or deny content as quickly as possible. Not all content will be approved. We will deny content that is inaccurate, out of date, misleading, or outright misinformation. Older content will be approved if it is relevant to a current event. Most corporate media content will not be approved unless it comes from an independent voice or opinion piece hosted on a mainstream outlet. We will deny content from outlets with reputations for spreading misinformation. We WILL NOT deny content over political views. Publishers of independent news content can post all of their new links in the MY NEWS section. Early Anti-Media users with a lot of activity on the site will be considered for potential moderator roles.
