The Vatican has announced that all celebrations of Holy Week over the Easter period will take place without a physical congregation, and until April 12 general audiences and the Angelus presided over by the Pope will be available only in live streaming via the Vatican News website.
“Because of the current global public health emergency, all the liturgical celebrations of Holy Week will take place without the physical presence of the faithful,” said the Prefecture of the Pontifical Household.
“Until April 12, the general audiences and the Angelus presided over by the Holy Father will be available only in live streaming on the official Vatican News website,” said the office.
According to the latest tally late Saturday, more than 21,000 Italians have tested positive, there have been approximately 1,441 deaths in Italy from COVID-19.
Italy remains the hardest-hit European country so far.
