General Breedlove visits Kosovo

Breedlove addresses Italian, Slovenian and Austrian troops in Kosovo
PRISTINA, Kosovo: Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Philip Breedlove arrived in Pristina this week to visit with KFOR troops and get operational briefings from KFOR leadership including an update on the newly fully operational Kosovo Security Force (KSF).
Given the North Atlantic Council’s declaration on 9 July 2013 that the KSF was fully operational, General Breedlove noted their progress and reiterated its mission.

”KSF’s mission will remain the same. They will continue to focus on civil protection operations, assisting civil authorities responding to natural disasters, and other civil emergencies. I am strongly encouraged by the KSF approach and commitment of their personnel and fully support their role in progressing towards implementation of the Belgrade Pristina agreement,” said General Breedlove.
He added that ”NATO will continue to support the ongoing development of the KSF as a professional and effective force with the provision of a NATO Liaison and Advisory Team (NLAT) and a NATO Advisory Team within the Ministry of the KSF.”

“I’m very proud of the men and women who have worked so hard for so long here. KFOR has helped provide the time and space needed by the diplomatic community to make the tremendous progress that we have all seen. Now the KSF will also help to stabilize this region by backing up civil authorities when they are needed,” General Breedlove added.
