The Syrian foreign minister blames Israel and Saudi Arabia for the four-year long crisis in Syria.
Speaking in Damascus, Walid al-Muallem said the delegation of the so-called Syrian National Coalition for opposition forces has rejected a draft resolution that calls for respecting Syria’s sovereignty, unity and independence after receiving orders from Republican Senator Robert Ford. Muallem went on to say that ISIS was originated from Wahhabi ideology. He said Jaysh al-Islam and Zahran Alloush rely on Saudi support, and Damascus is informed of this connection. Muallem warned Riyadh that it should reconsider this policy in the interest of the country and the Saudi nation. Speaking on campaign against ISIS, he said airstrikes alone are unable to crush the terrorist group that’s operating across the country. He said Syrian ground troops should receive aerial support similar to that of the Iraqi army to defeat ISIS. Muallem, however, rejected any intervention by foreign ground troops in the country.
