The Government of Sweden released an article in English attempting to repair the image of Sweden abroad. Let’s go through some of their statements and take a look at how they might be problematic. My sources are hyperlinked so just click the coloured words to reach them.
Claim: “Sweden had its first islamic terrorist attack not so long ago”
The Governments Facts: The only known attempt at such an attack was in 2010. No one was harmed but the attacker.
That is true. However I would like to point out that Sweden has exported more jihadists than all of America. In 2015 it was estimated 250 people had joined ISIS from America. For Sweden it was around 300.
Do keep in mind that one single ISIS-fighter can cause a lot of damage. One person alone can achieve up to 200 kills, especially if they carry out a suicide bombing, and a lot of ISIS-fighters aren’t killed in action. They get educated in the art of killing, handling explosives, generally imbued with hate towards democracy and the West, and then they bring these skills and attitudes back home to the West.
When they return, they aren’t necessarily punished by Sweden. It’s not illegal to be an ISIS member here. For a long time, if the National Security Police (SÄPO) suspected someone will be joining ISIS all they could legally do is give them a phone call and ask them for a meeting – that the person isn’t legally obliged to attend. Although in 2016 it became illegal to travel abroad with intent to commit terrorist acts, or to participate in terror-training.
And it’s shameful it had to take that long. Sweden has been aware of the jihadist problem for several years, they’ve known about people traveling abroad to rape children and kill infidels since 2014. They did nothing. Gothenburg is the city having the most issues with this, yet they didn’t assign a coordinator against violent extremism until 2015. That was the first time it happened in Sweden.
Granted, we did assign Mona Sahlin as a national coordinator against terrorism in the summer of 2014, but all she managed to accomplish in a year was a hotline for the jihadists relatives. This is lethal neglect by our authorities.
They claim it’s hard to prosecute someone for war crimes abroad. So instead of punishing returning ISIS-fighters, or stripping them of their citizenships, we’ve seen suggestions by our politicians to give them therapy, housing and internships. In October of 2016 it was revealed 140 Swedish citizens had returned after fighting for ISIS, and several municipalities are going to handle this by giving them tax-funded drivers licenses, and helping them out with jobs and housing.
So Sweden might not have had it’s own terrorist attack yet. But it certainly has exported terror to other countries. Also, it has been revealed that Swedish humanitarian aid once went to Al-Qaida allies in Syria.
Claim: “There has been a major increase in the number of rapes in Sweden.”
The Governments Facts: The number of reported rapes in Sweden has risen. But the definition of rape has broadened over time, which makes it difficult to compare the figures. It is also misleading to compare the figures with other countries, as many acts that are considered rape under Swedish law are not considered rape in many other countries.
Sex crimes have doubled since 2012 and the legal definition of rape isn’t relevant here, because the source of these figures is the Crime Councils “safety survey”. They are generally considered more reliable than reports to the police, and this also means that factors like the definition of rape widening and taking time to apply in court doesn’t matter. Asking citizens what they’ve experienced and looking at people who dared to report are different things.
And according to safety survey numbers, women’s comfortability with reporting sex crime has actually gone down. Not up. Now this is an important detail, since this is often used as the theory to explain why there’s been an increase. From 2005-2010 women DID feel more comfortable reporting, but since 2010 it’s been going down.
In order to understand the effect immigration has on crime and rape, we need data. Obtaining that data is easy in other countries, but not in Sweden. The latest official report was in 2005, for the years 1997-2001. It confirmed that immigrants were significantly overrepresented. 4 times more likely to be suspects in homicide cases and 5.5 times more likely to be suspects of rape.
Since then, Swedish politicians have made sure not to release any more statistics. The numbers are being collected by statistical agencies, but they’re not being published. Parliament even denied a motion to produce up-to-date crime statistics based on national origin.
If we look at neighbouring countries, we might find an explanation there. In 2009 Norwegian police reported that non-Western immigrants were responsible for all assault rapes in Oslo the past 3 years. We’re talking about 41 reports. In the third largest city of Stavanger 2012, 90% of rapes were by non-natives, that’s 20 convictions. Those might be small numbers but the official police report from 2011 confirms the trend.
Perpetrator representation according to age and ethnic background. The blue-ish colour represents “non-Norwegians”. As you can see below, 61,2% of rapists were Norwegians. 10,5% were from Africa, 9,2% were from the Middle East, 12,5% were Europeans, 4,6% Asians and 2,0% Americans. I’d like to point out that “Asian” doesn’t just mean Chinese and Japanese, it can refer to Pakistanis and Afhans as well. Considering that South-East Asians have the lowest registered crime it is likely not predominantly Japanese and Chinese people here.
Now, notice that “Norwegian citizen” includes people with immigrant backgrounds as well. It is not just ethnic Norwegians that are Norwegian citizens. If we break it up according to continental background then the numbers are as following.
34,9% of rapists were Norwegians. 19,7% were from Africa, 15,1% from the Middle East, 14,5% from Asia, 13,8% from Europe and 2,0% from America. Considering that immigrants make out a minority in Norway, these numbers are remarkable.
I managed to come across a police report from 2015 as well, showing that immigrants commit a disproportionate amount of rapes. 25% of reported rapes that year were by non-European immigrants. The largest immigrant population is Polish followed by Lithuanians and Swedes. That’s saying something. 82% of victims were born in Norway.
Ethnic Norwegians make up 83.7% of the population as of 2016. Looking at these stats, you can do some quick math and realize that roughly 5.37% of the population commited 25% of all reported rapes in 2015. Or if you will, Africans are 6.25 times more likely to commit rape.
This gives an indication to why the government isn’t interested in updating the report from 2005.
In Sweden, we simply do not know what percentage of sex crimes and murders last year were done by immigrants. Because the government doesn’t want us to know. And on their website they have the nerve to claim that: “We have nothing to gain from covering up statistics and facts.”
Except for your reputation and all your credability. Since you are the ones who’ve been vouching for uncontrolled mass immigration to Sweden the past decade. You’re the ones who haven’t made it mandatory to deport criminal immigrants, you think age testing is racist and you refused to do border ID-controls until 2016.
The Swedish Government says: “According to the most recent study, people from foreign backgrounds are 2.5 times more likely to be suspected of crimes than people born in Sweden to Swedish-born parents.”
Please note how they’re avoiding the numbers for murder and rape. Yeah, immigrants are 2.5 times more likely to be suspected in general terms. But if you look at specific crimes like rape and murder it’s several times higher than that.
The government insists on there not being a cover up, while at the same time refusing to update the numbers. Do you know the best way to tell that they’re dishonest?
If immigrants weren’t severly overrepresented, they’d love to release those numbers because it would put an end to all speculation. It would remove all the appeal of far-right populist parties and their rhetoric. Instead, you’re fueling far-right populism with your lack of transparency.
On the website they claim that: “In a later study, researchers at Stockholm University showed that the main difference in terms of criminal activity between immigrants and others in the population was due to differences in the socioeconomic conditions in which they grew up in Sweden.”
Yet the official report from 2005 clearly says, on page 21, that the overrepresentation remains even after controlling for these factors. Claiming that poverty is the cause of rape is offensive to all women who’ve been raped by middle-class men.
The Swedish Government says: “The studies show that the majority of those suspected of crimes were born in Sweden to two Swedish-born parents. The studies also show that the vast majority of people from foreign backgrounds are not suspected of any crimes.”
Yeah, because that needs pointing out. It’s not like it’s obvious that the majority of immigrants are cool people. Still doesn’t change the fact that a minority of bad apples can cause a huge amount of damage.
Nobody is disputing the fact that Swedish people commit crimes, the issue here is how disproportionately overrepresented certain immigrant groups are. Individiuals from North Africa and the Middle East have the highest registered crime. Western Europeans, South-East Asians and Americans have the lowest registered crime.
The big question is: If we already have a rape problem with ethnic Swedes, why make it even worse through the import of more rape? The majority of immigrants don’t rape, so they wouldn’t suffer from in-depth research into this overrepresentation, and what could be done to improve screening of potential criminals.
When someone wants to talk overrepresentation, and your first instinct is to shout “swedish men rape too!”, that clearly shows you’re arguing from a sense of nervous pseudo-morality. Not a thirst for knowledge.
The Swedish Government says: “Sweden is an open society governed by a principle of public access to official documents.”
Oh, so that’s why a man was denied work at the Central Bureau of Statistics, because he once wrote debate articles about immigration, using numbers from the Central Bureau of Statistics?
Sweden is a peaceful version of North Korea. You won’t go to jail for speaking your mind here, but there are social consequences. Losing your job and friends are some of them. The award-winning journalist Tim Pool went to Sweden and noted how afraid Swedes were of the social reprecussions for speaking up about these issues. It was hard to find anyone who would appear on camera with their face and identity.
Claim: “In Sweden there are a number of ‘no-go zones’ where criminality and gangs have taken over and where the emergency services do not dare to go.”
The Governments Facts: No. In a report published in February 2016, the Swedish Police Authority identified 53 residential areas around the country that have become increasingly marred by crime, social unrest and insecurity. These places have been incorrectly labelled ‘no-go zones’. What is true, however, is that in several of these areas the police have experienced difficulties fulfilling their duties; but it is not the case that the police do not go to them or that Swedish law does not apply there.
As I explained in a previous post, the only reason they don’t call it “no go zones” is because the police will drive in anyway. And get showered with rocks and potentially riots.
With “no go zones” you’re not trying to say that some places are impossible to visit for everyone at all times. It’s enough that there’s neighborhoods under such high control by criminals that ambulances and firetrucks can’t enter without police escort. The ambulance union demanded riot gear to be able to do their job, for christ sake.
In Seved the post office refuses to hand out packages due to safety reasons. In Tensta they haven’t had a meter maid for 8 months, because they’re afraid to go there. The same thing with journalists visiting Bäckby, Husby, Rinkeby, etc, they get attacked for holding up cameras.
The point isn’t that these neighborhoods are impossible to enter. The point is that non-locals percieved as “intruders” get attacked, and these areas are highly problematic to the point where you start wondering who’s in charge: the cops or the criminals?
Claim: “The high level of immigration means that the system in Sweden is on the verge of collapse.”
The Governments Facts: No. The Swedish economy is strong. Despite the high costs of immigration, Sweden recorded a public finance surplus in 2015, and the forecasts indicate that the surplus is set to grow until 2020.
If the Swedish economy is so strong, why is the government forced to raise taxes AND make huge loans in order to afford immigration? As well as cuts to welfare?
They decreased money for health insurance, which affected handicapped people. A blind 2-year old in a wheelchair who depends on medicine for survival and needs attendance 24/7 was denied assistance. How does this rhyme well with a strong economy?
The government made assisted living for senior citizens more expensive, and even though they promised to raise pensions the poorest of the elderly got even less. In Sollefteå women are being forced to give birth in their cars, since the local maternity ward was shut down due to savings. How does this rhyme with a strong economy?
Every fourth death in Lex Maria reports was due to lack of room and high workload. A patient died because they had to wait at the emergency for two days. An infant died because she was sent home too early. How are you gonna tell me that this isn’t a collapse? It might not be a total collapse where the hospital has been set on fire and burnt to the ground, but it’s certainly a collapse from an acceptable living standard.
The state health department came out and said that the large number of refugees are putting such a strain on the public welfare that hospitals, dental care and the psych ward can’t operate properly.
So the governments reply makes no sense. It’s misleading. It only looks at BNP, it doesn’t say anything about the access to housing, welfare and hospital care. Waiting times in Swedish hospitals are amongst the worst in Europe. We’re on the level of Serbia.
If Sweden’s economy is going so great, why aren’t they looking after their own citizens?
Claim: “Muslims will soon be in the majority in Sweden.”
The Governments Facts: No. It is estimated that there are a few hundred thousand people in Sweden whose roots are in predominantly Muslim countries. But this figure says nothing about how many are religious or not. The Muslim faith communities have approximately 140 000 members. This is about 1.5 per cent of Sweden’s population.
In 2010 there were 430’000 people in Sweden with a muslim background, 110’000 were members in an Islamic congregation. These numbers are from 2010. It is likely to assume they’ve gone up since then, since immigration from muslim countries has as well. I’m not making an indication that muslims will soon be a majority, I’m just stating the facts.
The Swedish Government: “Sweden needs immigration to compensate for the decline in numbers of babies being born here.”
What the? What did I just read?
Let me get this straight. Swedish people are declining in numbers, and therefore we need immigrants from muslim countries. But muslims aren’t gonna be the majority here in Sweden, because Swedish people are becoming fewer and fewer. And therefore we need more and more immigrants. But this doesn’t mean that they’re gonna be the majority eventually! Yeah, that TOTALLY adds up.
The government claims that they need immigration in order to keep the economy going, and at the same time they claim they have nothing to gain from covering up negative aspects of the migration policy. To me, this says it all.
It’s also worth mentioning that they’re blatantly wrong. Without immigration Sweden lies on a stable level of 2,01 in cohortfertility, or in layman terms: About 2 children per woman. The population isn’t increasing by much, but it’s also not decreasing. More people are born than there are dying. Also, an aging population might lead to more people having to support more people, but immigration also means that more people have to support more people, because even immigrants grow old eventually.
I do not believe that Sweden’s immigration policy is about being humanitarian. If it was, Sweden wouldn’t have decreased humanitarian aid to millions of people so they can import a couple thousand refugees into Sweden. Because that’s what happened.
In 2015, 8 billion SEK was taken out and spent on asylum immigration instead, the majority of those refugees being males. The red cross food package can last a family in a refugee camp for a whole month, and it costs 385 SEK. However, every new refugee in sweden costs 499 SEK per day. I think you can imagine the humanitarian disaster here. Yet, when interviewed by SVT, the humanitarian aid minister explains that she finds this “morally justifiable”.
In 2016 the government also cut down on humanitarian aid for various health organisations that combat aids, tuberculosis and malaria. These organisations were already promised 300 million, but when that money suddenly disappeared 159 organisations chose to protest. According to calculations by the Global fund, the result of this suspended funding is 20’000 more deaths and almost one million people becoming infected with HIV, tuberculosis and malaria. Once again, this was the decision of our feminist government.
The majority of refugees are left behind in the conflict area. Immigration per say really only helps about 1% of refugees, the remaining 99% need food, water and safety until the conflict resides. So that the government is working hard to prioritize the import of people into Sweden says they’re prioritizing citizen growth, not to help as many as possible.
Sweden’s immigration policy isn’t about humanitarianism. It’s about the economy.
Every country is it’s own corporation, where the citizens are employees, and every corporation seeks continual growth and eternally growing profit. Less employees, less money. Certain countries do have falling birthrates, so the world bank and the UN have suggested “replacement migration” as a solution. A decrease in population is a decrease in economic growth.
What this is, put simply, is that it’s much easier to replace the population than it is to replace the economic system. As usual, it’s all about the money. And that’s how we need to start viewing what’s happening in the world.
If you have read this far, I thank you for your patience.
Sincerely,
Angry Foreigner
