Processing Distortion with Peter B. Collins: Google Execs’ Cozy Relationships with NSA Boss

Peter B. Collins Presents Journalist Jason Leopold
At al Jazeera America, Jason Leopold recently published email exchanges between former NSA chief Keith Alexander and Google’s top brass, including Chairman Eric Schmidt and co-founder Sergey Brin. The emails show Alexander thanking the googlers for previous meetings, and inviting them to an upcoming classified briefing. This expose is coupled with the excellent reporting of Yasha Levine at Pando (featured in PD podcasts 26 and 29) which disclosed the long-term business arrangements between Google and the surveillance sector of the government. We also discuss Leopold’s effective use of the Freedom of Information Act to acquire important documents, and his recent exclusive interview with James Mitchell, who was one of the architects of the US torture program.
*Jason Leopold is an independent investigative reporter whose work is published by al Jazeera, The Guardian and other outlets. Find his recent articles here.
