Names and Faces of Victims of Gaza, Jul 23, 2014
“These are the human faces of our victims. These are samples of those who suffered most. We are not numbers, we are human beings.
We know that the ‘International community’ has failed, failed to its commitment to protect civilians in armed conflict, failed to enforce the rule of law, failed in its promise to humanity.
We must bear witness to the despair of our people and insist on their dignity. They had names, dreams, mothers, fathers, sisters, grandparents, and friends… who are grieving their deaths and devastated for this massive loss of human life, for which there can be no justification and no consolation… What is the ‘International Community’ doing to stop this blood-letting, to stop ‘Israeli” atrocities? What is the Security Council doing to uphold its commitment to protect civilians in armed conflict…? Without decisive action, the Council’s resolutions and statements ring hollow as defenseless civilians find no relief from the murderous ‘Israeli’ war machine.
The ability to cope with the humanitarian fall-out is on the brink of collapse, under the impact of the ‘Israeli’ aggression and 8 year blockade.
The casualties are mounting with every passing minute. In one day alone, Sunday, 20th of July, 95 Palestinians were brutally killed…. It is nearly impossible to keep up with the pace of killing and injury, caused by the Occupying power with all means of heavy weaponry against a defenseless civilian population. In the period of just 2 hours, following my letter to the Security Council yesterday, another 23 Palestinians were killed, their names not yet included in the vast documentation of ‘Israeli’ war crimes against the Palestinian people. The death toll now stands at more than 600 Palestinians, and more than 3500 injured…
Al Akhbar updates:
The Gaza health ministry has confirmed the deaths of 775 Palestinians so far in the besieged strip since Israel began its relentless assault on July 8. Among those killed, at least 172 were aged 18 or younger.
The latest massacre was in an Israeli bombing of an UNRWA school in Beit Hanoun.
Forty-four families have been massacred in Gaza in the past 16 days, according to ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qudra.Filed under: Zionists attacks on Gaza, Zionsts wars on Gaza
