Lavrov: Some countries use Afghan territory for training Syrian rebels
MOSCOW: Some countries have used the territory of Afghanistan for the training of Syrian rebels and trained them in handling toxic agents, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Friday.
“As is known, not so long ago reports appeared, suggesting that third countries have illegally used Afghanistan’s territory that is not controlled by Kabul, to train militants for fighting against the Syrian regime and in handling chemical warfare agents,” he said.

Syrian militants taught to handle chemical arms in Afghanistan – Lavrov
Third party countries might have used Afghan territory in order to teach Syrian militants how to handle chemical weapons in their confrontation with the Syrian authorities, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
“Reports suggesting that third party countries illegally used territories beyond Kabul’s control for training militants to fight the Syrian regime, in particular, how to handle chemical weapons, were posted a long time ago,” Lavrov told a press briefing in Moscow on Friday.
