Eric Draitser of StopImperialism.org provides his commentary (October 23, 2015) on President Obama’s veto of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), and the political context within which this must be understood. Draitser argues that rather than seeing this as a move to limit military expenditures and boost social spending, it should be seen as Obama showing his unabashed support for militarism, refusal to close Guantanamo, and eliminating spending cuts on the military. Draitser says that Obama is simply framing his continued imperialism as being socially conscious, all the while funding terrorists in Syria and Nazis in Ukraine.
