North Carolina School Cop Placed on Paid Leave After Body Slamming Honor Roll Student, Causing Concussion

A North Carolina school cop has been placed on paid leave for body slamming a female honor roll student so hard it caused a concussion, according to ABC11.
A nine-second video posted to Twitter on Tuesday shows Rolesville police officer Ruben De Los Santos body slamming 15-year-old Jasmine Darwin, who was apparently trying to break up a fight between another girl and her sister.
Rolesville High School student Aisha Nasser captured the fight with her cell phone camera. That video shows two girls throwing punches, kicks and clawing at each other before ending up on the ground.

According to a witness, Jasmine Darwin, who was thrown to the ground in the first video, was merely trying to break up the fight in the school’s cafeteria when De Los Santos responded to the situation at around 7:10 a.m. Tuesday.
Rolesville Police Chief Bobby Langston has placed De Los Santos on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation, although he did not cite examples of circumstances that would justify body-slamming a 15-year-old female.
Chief Langston, spoke about the incident at a town council meeting on Tuesday and has asked the State Bureau of Investigation to conduct a third-party review of the ordeal.
“We will work diligently to review any and all pertinent information so that we provide an accurate account of the events,” Chief Langston read aloud from a press release.
“We ask the community and all members involved to be patient while we investigate this matter.”
Rolesville High School principal Dhedra Lassidter also released a statement and promised to continue engaging in conversations about the manner in which the school keeps students and staff safe, adding that it’s vital children have a positive relationship with police.
“The safety of our students is always our first priority,” Lassiter said. “Our school district works with many dedicated officers who protect our students. It is vital that our children have a positive relationship with these law enforcement officials. Those relationships are built on mutual respect.
