I have been inundated at this site for years by commentators asking me to take a good hard look at some articles written by some who have stated that nuclear weapons are a "fraud" and that the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki back in the closing days of World War II were nothing but frauds (!).... Many have asked me for my opinion, and I have not responded to them simply because my own knowledge of Physics and real history is enough to state clearly here and now that the nuclear weapons used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were absolutely real, and that nuclear weapons are indeed real and very deadly....I came across the following very important article written by Lasha Darkmoon, from her website "Darkmoon" at www.darkmoon.me, that perfectly summarizes what I and others have to say to those who continue to promote the idea that nuclear weapons are a fraud.... The article is entitled: "The "No Nuclear Bombs" Conspiracy Theory" and I have it right here for those who have not caught a glimpse of it yet to see for themselves...I have my own thoughts and comments to follow:The “No Nuclear Bombs” Conspiracy theory Lasha Darkmoon August 17, 2015 ArticlesThe idea that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were “firebombed” and that no nuclear weapons were used against them, because no such weapons even exist to his day, can be dismissed out of hand as arrant nonsense. Several of our best commenters, armed with historical facts, have pointed this out. Others, impervious to logic and factual information, persist in peddling the conspiracy theory that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were “firebombed” and that “no nuclear weapons” exist at all!Political analyst Franklin Ryckaert, in a few choice words, has dismissed the above conspiracy theory as worthless trash. The political implications of atomic bombs being a fraud would be enormous. It would mean not only that the US had cheated the world, but also that the UK, France, Russia, China, India, Pakistan and Israel had been cheating the world in a similar way. The “treason” of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg would have been a fraud, and they would have been executed for nothing. The Israeli whistleblower Vanunu would have been lying also, by “exposing” Israel’s nuclear arms program when no such program existed. Israel would also be feigning right now to be concerned about a possible Iranian nuclear bomb, knowing that no such bomb had ever been built. As for the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, that too would have been a total fake, with both Khrushchev and Kennedy cynically aware that they were engaged in a bogus argument about non-existent WMD! Occam’s Razor would suggest that none of this nonsense is possible.
Beautifully put. There is simply no answering this. Ryckaert is the voice of common sense. He says what ought to be obvious to anyone with half a brain.Apart from Ryckaert’s incontrovertible arguments listed above, other points need to be noted that are equally persuasive. If we are to accept the “No Nuclear Bombs” conspiracy theory, we would then have to believe that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was essentially a bogus organization. For if there are no nuclear weapons, there would be no raison d’être for the IAEA. Its 22 member states, its Board of Governors, and its countless inspectors in numerous countries would all be engaged in fraudulent activities. If there are no nuclear weapons, what possible justification would there be for IAEA inspectors poking around in Iran, trying to sniff out hidden WMD? Are all these highly qualified scientists in fact no more than hardened cynics pretending to look for non-existent weapons? According to the conspiracy theorists, Yes! The nuclear inspectors are just pretending that the world is full of non-existent nuclear weapons so as to justify their own existence! And also, in passing, to convince the world that America never used any nasty weapons of mass destruction at Hiroshima and Nagasaki! Good old America! Kind, compassionate America! Too nice to drop lethal atom bombs on any country! Instead, oozing with pity and humanitarian sentiment for their Japanese enemy, the Noble Warriors of Washington “firebombed” Hiroshima and Nagasaki, reducing them to rubble with tears in their eyes!What a joke.Before we go any further, let’s make it clear that the bombs dropped at Hiroshima and Nagasaki were different in design. Hiroshima got the first atombomb, Nagasaki the first plutonium blob. More people died at Hiroshima than at Nagasaki, but for various reasons I will not go into here, the bomb dropped on Nagasaki was considered more devastating — partly because it was intended by America’s Jewish-controlled administration to deliver a death blow to Christianity in Japan. This it virtually succeeded in doing, given that Nagasaki had always been Japan’s most Christian city, containing the highest concentration of Christians in all of Japan. The Nagasaki plutonium bomb was specifically aimed at St Mary’s Cathedral while Japan’s largest Roman Catholic congregation was celebrating Mass and receiving Holy Communion. The entire congregation was vaporized in a single instant at 11.02 a.m. on Thursday morning, 9 August, 1945 — much to the delight of the Jews in Washington who knew exactly where the bomb would fall.Norman Thomas describes Nagasaki as “the greatest single atrocity of a very cruel war.”Here are the statistics on Hiroshima and Nagasaki:
On August 6, 1945, the world dramatically entered the atomic age: without either warning or precedent, an American plane dropped a single nuclear bomb (emphasis added) on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion utterly destroyed more than four square miles of the city center. About 90,000 people were killed immediately; another 40,000 were injured, many of whom died in protracted agony from radiation sickness. Three days later, a second atomic strike on the city of Nagasaki killed some 37,000 people and injured another 43,000. Together the two bombs eventually killed an estimated 200,000 Japanese civilians. (See here)
§Another of our star commenters, Luca K, makes an excellent point that demolishes at one stroke the absurd conspiracy theory that Hiroshima and Nagasaki received the conventional “firebombing treatment”, i.e., that no nuclear weapons were used against them at all. Luca K writes:
“For the loonies who seem to be here suggesting that the nuclear attacks against Japan were just conventional firebombings: Firebombings were carried out by huge bomber fleets, normally hundreds of aircraft. No such large bomber fleets were involved in the attacks against Hiroshima and Nagasaki.”
People who advance these absurd conspiracy theories fall into two groups: deliberate disinfo agents and the Useful Idiots who promote their lies without being aware they are muddying the waters by spreading deliberate disinformation. These kooks remain impervious to both facts and logic. Thus they appear to be entirely ignorant of the historical fact (to quote Luca K) that “firebombings were carried out by huge bomber fleets, normally hundreds of aircraft. No such large bomber fleets were involved in the attacks against Hiroshima and Nagasaki.”Let’s consider Luca K’s important point.The crucial difference between cities devastated by firebombing and cities like Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which were devastated by atom bombs, is that hundreds of planes in constant relays over several days are necessary for the firebombing of cities, whereas ONE PLANE CARRYING ONE BOMB was sufficient for Hiroshima and Nagasaki.Here are some FACTS on firebombed cities:On March 9-10, 1945, a wave of 300 American bombers struck Tokyo, killing 100,000 people. 1700 tons of bombs were necessary to accomplish this devastation. On May 23, 1945, “520 giant B-29 ‘Superfortress’ American bombers unleashed 4,500 tons of incendiary bombs n the heart of the already battered Japanese capital.” Two days later, on May 25, “a second strike of 502‘Superfortress’ planes roared low over Tokyo, raining down 4,000 tons of explosives.” (See here)If Hiroshima and Nagasaki had been given the identical firebombing treatment, as the ignorant conspiracy theorists assert, they too would have required hundreds of giant planes dropping thousands of tons of explosives over several days.We know for a fact—for the Japanese victims were themselves eyewitnesses to each atomic attack—that only ONE plane dropping ONE bomb was sufficient to accomplish the devastation at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The bomb dropped on Nagasaki, for example, weighed 10,000 pounds. Note that: pounds, not tons. For firebombing Tokyo, tons of bombs were necessary over several days. At Nagasaki, one much lighter bomb, weighed in pounds not tons, did the trick in nine seconds.Like Tokyo and other Japanese cities, many German cities were subjected to firebombing. In all cases, hundreds of planes carrying thousands of tons of explosives were necessary over a period of several days in order to accomplish the devastation. Not one of these cities was reduced to ruins within a few seconds, as in the case of Hiroshima and Nagasaki,Nor did any of these other firebombed cities report “the trans-generational malignancies and immune deficiencies caused by the deadly plutonium and other radioactive isotopes produced by the bomb.”The case is closed.The conspiracy theorists and their Useful Idiots in spreading disinformation are welcome to make their views known here. Those who continue to promote them as somehow being a falsehood are doing a disservice to those who were murdered back on August 6th and August 9th, 1945, at Hiroshima and Nagasaki..... I look at many of them as being silly and either a nuisance to this real truth movement, or just as Lasha states..
