Chief of Staff of RA Armed Forces attends NATO meetings in Brussels
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Colonel General Yuri Khachaturov participated in the sittings of the Chiefs of General Staff of NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC), NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), NATO’s new Resolute Support mission, as well as the Kosovo Force (KFOR).
The participants discussed the process of NATO-led missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo and referred to the future programs.
Within the framework of the visit to Brussels, Yuri Khachaturov had a meeting with General Philip M. Breedlove, the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe and the Commander of U.S European Command. Issues related to Armenia-NATO cooperation were discussed. Yuri Khachaturov met with his counterparts from a number of countries.

Azerbaijani peacekeepers to remain in Afghanistan

Baku: It is specified that Azerbaijani peacekeepers will continue serving in Afghanistan.
Member of the Azerbaijani parliament’s security and defense committee Zahid Oruj told APA that 94 Azerbaijani peacekeepers will continue serving within the battalion of the Turkish Armed Forces in Afghanistan.
Azerbaijani peacekeepers will protect a TV tower and drinking water reservoir in Afghanistan.
Oruj said that this issue was discussed again at Azerbaijan-NATO high-level meeting and both sides confirmed that Azerbaijani peacekeepers would continue serving in Afghanistan.
International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) will leave Afghanistan from this year.

Georgian Armed Forces General Staff chief to participate in NATO Military Committee meeting

Tibilisi: Head of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze is on a visit to Brussels.
A meeting of the NATO Military Committee will be held at the headquarters of the alliance on January 21-23, the Ministry of Defense told Trend on Monday.
Several meetings will be led by the head of the NATO Military Committee, General Knud Bartels. The member-states and partners will discuss the current operations, the process of transformation and the plans on strengthening the partnership within two days.
Kapanadze will take part in a meeting of the heads of the joint staffs of the non-NATO member-states participating in the ISAF operation. He will address his foreign counterparts. Several issues, the NATO-Georgia cooperation in the military sphere and Georgia’s readiness to support the Afghan security forces will be discussed.
A meeting of the military committee is planned to be held in the format of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership.
Kapanadze will meet with General Knud Bartels as part of his visit on Jan. 21.
Bilateral meetings will be held with foreign colleagues. The chief of the Georgian General Staff will discuss the military cooperation with Lithuanian, Moldovan, Polish and Belarusian counterparts.
