Taking a page from law enforcement, University of Missouri professor Melissa Click told investigators she was in fear for her life when she assaulted a student journalist, calling for some “muscle” to have him removed because she was under the impression that he was packing a gun and could have pulled it out on her.
She also claimed she found Mark Schierbecker “suspicious” because his camera was too small.
Click, who was fired Wednesday, expressed these sentiments to university investigators in the wake of the November 9, 2015 incident.

The Chronicle noted that the guns are not allowed on campus, which was one reason why she may backed off from her initial assertions.
Schierbecker was using a Canon S110, which is smaller than the DSLR Tim Tai was using, but it was enough to capture what took place that chaotic afternoon – a video that now has 2.8 million views on YouTube.
And it was enough to show that Schierbecker said nothing to indicate he had a gun. All he did was ask her for comment, which is something journalists are known to do from time to time.
He also tweeted a photo of his camera to show how intimidating he looked that afternoon.
