ISIS had reorganized and recomposed itself in desert enclaves and pockets in Iraq after the Sunni Awakening defeated Al-Qaeda in Iraq a decade ago. It appears that its current leaders know that they are in the midst of a new desert phase, and so they prepared in advance, along with a security plan for secret underground organizational activity, or in what has today become known as the organization’s ‘safe provinces’.

4-Janes - Israel Deploys Iron Dome on Golan Heights

Israel's deployment of Iron Dome air defence systems on the Golan Heights is a violation of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement, Syria has claimed.The agreement formalised the ceasefire that ended the October 1973 war and left Israel in control of the territory."[Israel] has continued to commit numerous violations, contraventions, and other breaches of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement," Syria's ambassador to the UN said in a letter to the UN secretary-general and the president of the UN Security Council that was made public on 2 May."It has deployed weapons, heavy equipment, and advanced systems. Two Iron Dome air defence systems are in place within the 10 km zone, and missile carriers have been installed within the 25 km zone."

5-US Air Force ties to Greece may grow as relations with Turkey sour

Greek officials are seeking closer ties to the U.S. military, a move that occurs as Turkey refuses to back down on acquiring a Russian air defense system that could compromise NATO aircraft.Athens and Washington have been discussing expanded operations at Larissa Air Base, in central Greece, which includes potentially stationing KC-135 tankers and unmanned aerial vehicles there, as well as expanding training operations, according to Kathimerini, a daily Athens newspaper.U.S. Air Forces Europe would not comment on future basing or force structure changes, but expanding training with the Greeks appears to be in the works regarding INIOHOS, an air exercise between NATO allies and partner nations.“They have expressed desires to increase the scope and stature of the exercise, and we are happy to support them as we can on their efforts,” said a U.S. Air Forces Europe official. “The U.S. Air Force is preparing for Stolen Cerberus, a routine exercise between the Hellenic air force and U.S. Air Forces in Europe. As INIOHOS is a Hellenic air force-led exercise, we defer to them on plans for future iterations.”

These actors — perhaps with guidance from Washington — must iron out a cohesive plan to make it happen.Greece is building a joint radar system on Crete with the Israelis, that is possibly aimed at monitoring Turkish aggression. Israel should consider placing Arrow, Iron Dome, and David’s Sling systems near the Crete radar installation to ensure its protection, and consider selling the systems to Nicosia as well "
