Media Falsely Reported that Roseanne Endorsed Trump – and He Fell for It

(ANTIMEDIAOn Thursday, an article from The Hollywood Reporter heavily insinuated legendary comedian Roseanne Barr had recently endorsed Donald Trump for president of the United States. In fact, Trump himself even tweeted a link to a story from The Hill entitled, “Roseanne Barr: ‘We would be so lucky’ if Trump won,” which sourced The Reporter article. Above the linked story, Trump wrote, “Thank you Roseanne, very much appreciated.”
In actuality, Roseanne did not, in fact, in any way, shape, or form, endorse Donald Trump for president. According to her Twitter account, Roseanne has stated multiple times she plans on writing in her own name as her choice for commander-in-chief.
In fairness to Trump, though he was quick to brag about an endorsement he never came close to receiving, bad journalism is to blame for the false story going viral.
Anti-Media reached out to Ms. Barr, who told us her words were taken completely out of context by the publication. She clarified the original statement she made to The Hollywood Reporter:

Thank you Roseanne, very much appreciated. https://t.co/COXEJ1In8D

“My words were: ‘Hillary’s machine so controls every part of this election, that if Trump were to win, we would be lucky because that would mean our election system was not owned by a woman who takes money from EVERY despot on earth,’” Ms. Barr told Anti-Media. The original – and misleading to the point of lying – headline of The Hollywood Reporter article, authored by Tracy Ross, was “Roseanne Barr: US Would Be ‘Lucky’ if Trump Won, Bashes Hillary Clinton, Talks Pot.’” The title has since been removed and replaced with “Roseanne Barr on Trump ‘Playing the Heel for Hillary,’ Pot and Being a Farmer.” There are no editor’s notes on the article citing the title change and no retraction has yet been made by The Reporter.
The Hollywood Reporter’s original title still appears on Google despite having been changed on the website.
We contacted The Hollywood Reporter for a statement, but at the time of this article’s publication, they are yet to respond. As someone who has never shied away from voicing her opinion, the Last Comic Standing judge took to her Twitter account to set the public record straight, as well.

i didn’t ‘endorse’ trump, idiots. i endorsed a better election system. — Roseanne Barr (@therealroseanne) June 9, 2016

— Roseanne Barr (@therealroseanne) June 9, 2016

— Roseanne Barr (@therealroseanne) June 9, 2016

Ms. Barr later tweeted she isn’t against Trump nor Hillary, but that she is for the American people.
For those who were disappointed at the reports of Ms. Barr’s “endorsement,”fear not – the media misled you once again. Roseanne is still with us.
And if you are curious as to who Roseanne is officially endorsing to sit in the Oval Office for the next four years – “I endorse myself,” she told us.
