Author Ray Bourhis joins Jack in Hour 2
An overwhelming majority of Crimeans voted to secede from Ukraine and join Russia. According to the Associated Press, “President Vladimir Putin added Crimea to the map of Russia on Tuesday, describing the move as correcting past injustice and responding to what he called Western encroachment upon Russia’s vital interests.” Putin also said that, “Crimea’s secession from Ukraine repeats Ukraine’s own secession from the Soviet Union in 1991.”
If Crimea can secede from Ukraine, what’s stopping our states from doing the same thing? Can California, Vermont, or Ohio successfully secede from the United States?
As an attorney and political pundit who has done extensive research on the process of secession, Ray Bourhis can open a dialogue on the process of secession from the United States as presented in his new book, Revolt: The Secession of Mill Valley.
