(ANTIMEDIA) Groveland, FL— In a particularly disturbing case of police misconduct, a Florida state trooper has been arrested amid accusations from a female child that he sexually abused her, using a sex swing and other devices as he violated her. He has been placed on administrative leave and remains in custody while the investigation is underway.
Local outlet CBS 12 reports that according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Chad Corriveau molested the child in November and December of last year. Though an affidavit documenting the allegations does not specify whether Corriveau was related to the girl he abused, a member of his family reported him to authorities in September of this year.
On September 20, Deputy Seth Luppino told his supervisor, Corporal Sandra Chessher, that Alicia Corriveau called him on September 7 to report that the trooper had sexually abused the child, who remains unnamed. Her age is not specified either, though it is clear she is a minor. Alicia Corriveau told the officer that the defendant “kissed [the child] on the mouth, kissed her breasts, secured her to a sex swing, digitally penetrated her vagina, and inserted a sex device into the juvenile victim’s vagina.” Following the phone call, the girl was brought in for a forensic interview where, according to the affidavit, authorities determined she understood the difference between truth and lies. She confirmed she would only tell the truth.
According to the victim, the abuse began during Thanksgiving break of last year, when the cop showed the juvenile pornography on his phone. By December, he was complaining to her about his “lack of sexual relations” and asking about her own sexual experiences.
Eventually — among a variety of offenses — the girl says he removed her clothes and inserted ice into her vagina. He reportedly brought out a bag with a “bar” and restraints and secured her to the bar, where he “digitally” violated her before moving her to a bed, where he further abused her with both his hands and a vibrator. When he asked her if it felt good and she said no, he “change[d] the position of the vibrator.”
The juvenile victim expressed to forensic authorities that she did not consent to Corriveau’s abuse but was afraid to express this to him because of his short temper. According to the document:
“The juvenile victim indicated that at no time did she tell the defendant that she did not wish to participate because the defendant is short-tempered and she was afraid for her safety.”
He warned her not to tell an individual whose name is blacked out on the affidavit, indicating he clearly knew his behavior was unacceptable.
CBS 12 reports that “Corriveau faces charges of sexual battery under familial authority (domestic) and showing any obscene material to a minor (domestic).”
Cops around the country are frequently accused of sexually abusing children, and many have been convicted of such crimes or outright admitted them.
Corriveau is now in custody but has not yet been fired. According to a statement from authorities:
“The Florida Highway Patrol takes these matters very seriously and has placed the trooper on administrative leave pending the criminal investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, a thorough administrative investigation is being conducted simultaneously regarding the allegations and the actions of the trooper, and appropriate disciplinary action will be immediately taken based on the outcome of the investigation.”
