Each Resettled Refugee in the US Costs Taxpayers $15,900 Per Year

A new study shows that each refugee costs US taxpayers $79,600 for the first five years of an average refugee’s stay, which breaks down to $15,900 per year. This includes Medicaid, Food Stamps, public education, public housing, and other government benefits. The US accepts 50,000 to 100,000 refugees per year and 20,000 to 50,000 political-asylum-seekers per year.
