California passed a state law defining itself as a “sanctuary state.” This law went into effect on January 1 of this year. However, this is defiant act against U.S. Federal law governing the treatment of illegal immigrants into the United States of America, of which California is still part.
The Trump Administration is not taking this lying down.
I have discussed in several earlier posts my project for a collection of short literary works that contain interesting economic insights. The current version is up for comments, with several pieces added, several comments added or expanded. My guess is that it will end up as a web page rather than a printed book. The reason is the copyright problem.
That Special Counsel Robert Mueller is becoming rattled because of the growing criticism of his investigation by Republicans in Congress and because of the legal action Paul Manafort has recently brought against him, is strongly suggested by his frankly very strange decision not just to subpoena Steve Bannon but to subpoena Steve Bannon to give evidence before a Grand Jury.
It is difficult to understand the logic of this step if Mueller is carrying out a serious investigation.

The incumbent is Trump rubber stamp Mimi Walters who lives on the ocean in Dana Rohrabacher's district. Although Obama lost the district in 2008 and 2012, Hillary beat Trump there, 49.8% to 44.4%. The PVI went from as forbidding R+7 to a much blue-friendlier R+3.

It's ironic that notorious Republican closet case and child molester Mark Foley of Florida helped destroy the GOP House majority in 2006, considering that that majority was built with a lie about another Foley, Democratic Speaker Tom Foley. That Foley was a decent, if conventional, politician from Spokane, Washington. In 1964 Foley had defeated Republican Congressman Walt Horan and ably represented eastern Washington in Congress for 30 years, working his way up the ladder to become Democratic Whip in 1981, Majority Leader in 1987 and then House Speaker in 1989.

Pennsylvania state legislature Senator Mike Folmer is seeking support for a law to require medical professionals to obtain informed consent from parents, which would require that they be told of potential risks associated with the ingredients of vaccines. China has started construction of a new $4-billion north-south coastal railway network that will significantly shorten travel time between key cities Nantong and Yancheng in the eastern Jiangsu Province.
Expected to be completed by 2022, the railway project is part of the government’s ambitious $438 billion project to upgrade and expand the existing national rail system.
This is part and parcel of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) and is considered a key infrastructure project.
