Turkey Increases Weapon Support to Militants in Northern Syria

On September 12, a senior Free Syrian Army (FSA) commander told the Reuters news agency that Turkey has stepped up weapon supplies to militants in northern Syria to help them to fend off an expected attack by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies.

They pledged complete Turkish military support for a long, protracted battle … These arms supplies and munitions will allow the battle to extend and ensure our supplies are not drained in a war of attrition,” Reuters quoted the FSA commander, who recently met with Turkish officials, as saying.

Syrian Arab Army Discovers More US-Supplied Weapons in Syria

On September 5, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) uncovered several weapons caches, which had been left behind by militants, during a search operation in the southern al-Quneitra countryside, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The weapons caches included several rounds of the US-made SMAW shoulder-launched rocket weapon, one US-supplies Fagot anti-tank guided missile (ATGM), one launcher of Chines-made HJ-73c ATGM, a 107mm rocket launcher, two SPG-9 73mm recoilless guns, dozens of light machine guns and several night vision binoculars.

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:30 P.M.) – A convoy for the Syrian Army heading to the outskirts of Idlib for upcoming offensive was warmly welcomed by residents of al-Ghab Plain in northwest Hama countryside.
The convoy belongs to the SAA’s elite 4th Armored Division which was tasked with fighting jihadi groups near al-Ghab Plain once the full-scale offensive begins.

Russian Air Force ‘Stalking’ Jihadists Over Idlib, Syrian Army Prepares for Offensive

Russian reconnaissance planes have been repeatedly flying over the southern and western countrysides of the Idlib Governorate in order to monitor and identify jihadist movements around the province.

Israel’s Lieberman Fumes Over Stability in Syria, Fears Recapture of Golan Heights

Syria is building up its ground forces to pre-war size according to Israel. On August 7th, Israel’s Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman spoke in front of reporters during a tour of the Golan Heights. “Across the way we see the Syrian military, which is not satisfied with just taking over all of Syrian territory but is expressly building a broad-based, new ground army that will return to its previous proportions and beyond,” Lieberman commented. He also added that Israel follows all developments and is ready for any scenario.
