The largest-ever review of the effects of antidepressants on teens uncovered some incredibly disturbing findings, including that the drugs raise the risk of suicide in kids under 18.
Now, this link is nothing new. We just reported in September that the selective-serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) drug Paxil was found to make teens suicidal.
This week the media has gone all out to celebrate FDA approval of a new drug that promises to manage low libido in women. Of course this drug has the usual list of hair-raising side effects, which begs this question: since there is an inexpensive, readily available natural alternative that has no side effects and actually enhances other facets of health along with treating low libido, why don’t we hear anything about that?
The issue of mental health has recently gained more prominence in Australia, with radio advertisements proclaiming that a mental illness, such as depression, is “part” of who someone is – kind of like eye color is part of someone. In reality, while eye color is innocuous, the vast majority of people suffering from mental illness would jump at the chance to be freed from the nightmare which is not only their illness, but the side effects of their medication.
For years we’ve been told that depression is caused by low serotonin levels in the brain. Now, a leading professor of psychiatry is warning that belief is little more than a dangerous miscommunication, saying the marketing of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) drugs is “based on a myth.”
A comparison. The mainstream media report on stories, detailing specific facts, and then ignore the skepticism that reading their stories would inspire! They don’t even follow up on facts they report. They ignore their own stories. Let that sink in as I provided this comparison.
