The Pentagon has spent billions of dollars to prevent a Russian germ warfare attack against out country. (See Season 4, episode 1 of The Americans for proof.) This is kind of a Part II of the Brexit post from earlier this evening. There are plenty of Democrats-- including many who I like and respect-- who don't believe that Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election was significant. I disagree, extremely so. I'm far from a Clinton supporter, but I feel absolutely certain that Trump would not be in the White House today had Putin not decided to make a big push to put him there.
If Russian agents hacked into voting machines in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Iowa, North Carolina and Florida to hand Trump the 2016 election-- as I'm certain they did-- the proof won't be released for 75 years-- if ever. Chances are good, most of us won't be around to see it (which is the idea) so instead, we have to focus on how the Kremlin worked with the Trump campaign to influence voters.
As with all things Russiagate…it only took a few days before the entire Mueller “troll farm” indictment was completely debunked.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russian citizens and three Russian entities on charges of interfering in US elections through "sowing discord" on Facebook, and organizing events that criticized Hillary Clinton- the charges amount to Russians acting as 'Facebook trolls'. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein admitted that no Americans were in involved, and there is no charge that the activity altered the outcome of the election.
Thursday night I was down in Huntington Beach for a house party for Laura Oatman, the progressive running against Dana Rohrabacher. It was great. Laura and Marianne Williamson tag-teamed and it was amazing. At some point a man had asked Laura if she "had the stomach" for such a tough race. You should have seen the two mama bears in action! "The stomach?"asked Marianne with either incredulity or outrage. "She has a womb!" Laura then said "And this womb produced 5 children in 5 years. Her husband looked a little embarrassed but the statement brought down the roof.
Paul Waldman, writing for the Washington Post Tuesday was almost matter of fact: Russia is going to attack our next election.
It astounds me that a third of voters still fail to understand that Trump is a compulsive liar. But as Daniel Dale , the DC correspondent for the Toronto Star, and many others have pointed out, that’s because a third of voters get their information from crackpot sites— versions of supermarket checkout line tabloids for the 21th Century.
I hope Jonathan Chait is correct about the GOP tax plan being political suicide... but I'm not as certain as he is. Have you started seeing the ads yet? Millions of dollars of patently fake spots are blanketing TV from coast to coast claiming how fabulous the plan is. There isn't an ounce of truth in them but...
