Could Contaminated Water Have Caused Legionnaires Outbreaks in Flint, Michigan?

Two outbreaks of Legionnaires disease in and around Flint, Michigan, have health officials looking into whether they were caused or at least affected by the ongoing water-contamination problem going on in that city.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is investigating the outbreaks, in 2014 and 2015, which sickened 87 people and killed 10 in Genesee County. The sick ranged in age from 26 to 94, and fell ill between either June 6, 2014, to March 9, 2015, or May 4, 2015, to Oct. 29, 2015, the agency said.

TB Outbreak in Alabama Town Surpasses that of Third-World Countries

Alabama health officials are offering some residents $160 to be screened and treated for tuberculosis after an outbreak of the disease killed 3 people and sickened 26.
The Alabama Department of Public Health said it will dispatch extra nurses and TB investigators to Marion, a town 80 miles west of the capital of Montgomery, where the outbreak has been centralized.
In fact, the infection rate in Marion is higher than those in many third-world countries. [1]

Shigellosis Outbreak Sweeps Through Kansas City

More than 150 cases of Shigellosis have been reported in Kansas City, many of them in young children.
Health officials in Kansas City say there are normally about 10 cases of Shigellosis a year there, but the number has spiked dramatically to 150, and the illness has struck mostly children in daycare and elementary schools. The outbreak is 15 times the yearly average. [1]
